Types of bespoke bathroom units
Unit with basin
The most common. It sits under the basin and combines storage with support for the countertop. It can have drawers, doors or a combination of both. At Bonalife, all our collections are made to measure, adapting the unit to the exact dimensions of each bathroom.
Wall-hung unit
Fixed to the wall with no contact with the floor. It brings visual lightness and makes floor cleaning easier. It is the most popular format in modern and minimalist bathrooms.
Floor-standing unit
Pieces reaching the floor with a standard height of 75 to 88 cm, depending on whether the basin is countertop or bowl-type. A way to maximise storage and give the unit a greater presence in the space.
Unit between walls
We build your unit for the exact gap available in your bathroom. Make it a memorable space, an element you use to the full and with a unique design.
Column
Vertical unit 20-30 cm wide with heights to suit your space. Ideal for storing towels, hygiene products and accessories. It can be open (shelves), closed (doors) or mixed.
Laundry
Combines bathroom storage with space for washer/dryer and a laundry area. An increasingly requested solution in flats with no separate utility room.
Materials for bathroom cabinets
The bathroom is a humid environment, so materials must be prepared to withstand moisture and temperature changes. The most used in bespoke manufacturing:
Melamine: The most versatile option with the best value for money. Available in hundreds of finishes imitating wood, stone or plain colours.
Lacquer: Smooth gloss or matt finish, available in 23 shades and, for bespoke projects, in any RAL colour. Highly moisture-resistant and easy to clean. Requires prior white polyurethane water-repellent treatment.
Natural wood veneer: For those who want the beauty of real wood. Requires prior white polyurethane water-repellent treatment.
Interior organisation: keys to a functional unit
Drawers over doors: Full-extension drawers give access to 100% of the contents. Doors always leave dead zones at the back.
Internal dividers: Separate cosmetics, hygiene products, medicines and cleaning items. They avoid the “all together” chaos.
Space for plumbing: A good bespoke cabinet integrates the basin trap without wasting space.
How big is a bathroom unit?
Dimensions depend on the available space. These are the references of our standard sizes:
Standard width (single basin): 60, 80, 100 or 120 cm.
Standard width (double basin): 120, 140, 160 or 180 cm.
Depth: 45 cm.
Basin height: 40 or 52 cm.
Unit height: 75 cm (with 5 cm plinth) for countertop basins; 88 cm (with 5 cm plinth) for built-in basins.
